Ocarina ReTuned is a substantially modified fork of TriAevum, integrating Ocarina ReFramed gameplay with its own interface, ROM-preparation flow, and platform support.

**Preview 0.6.1 is available.** Expect rough edges and share feedback.

[Download the Preview](https://github.com/OTPR26/Ocarina-ReTuned/releases/tag/v0.6.1) · [Report an issue](https://github.com/OTPR26/Ocarina-ReTuned/issues)

## Features

- Single-screen gameplay with the Ocarina ReFramed HUD, menus, and camera controls.
- **Optional dual-screen support:** Android dual-screen devices and experimental iPhone Duo support, with an optional bottom equipment panel.
- **Manual jump:** choose X or ZR as a dedicated jump button.
- **PAK Loader for custom player models:** import child and adult models on Android and desktop, or include them during preparation for iOS, Apple TV, and Switch. Browse [models on ModLoader64](https://modloader64.com/models.html) and follow the [setup guide](documentation/Player-models.md). Choose compatible Ocarina of Time player models.
- A shared startup screen and settings menus, with controller navigation and Apple TV remote support.
- Adjustable internal resolution and frame-rate interpolation, including 60 FPS.
- Bundled HD dialogue fonts with Regular and Bold styles.
- Custom texture-pack support, with memory budgets suited to each device and folder selection on Windows, Mac, and Linux.
- Cached preparation updates, with automatic upgrade checks, progress, and time estimates.
- **Customizable touch controls on Android and iOS:** move buttons and sticks, save your layout, and toggle the minimap by touch. Controller bindings are configurable too.
- iCloud save-sync support in separately configured Apple builds. Sync is off in the downloadable Preview packages.

## How ReTuned differs from TriAevum

TriAevum provides the runtime and translation foundation. ReTuned builds on it with ReFramed gameplay, player-model imports, optional dual-screen layouts, manual jump, customizable touch controls, and its own startup, settings, and preparation flow.

Key additions and changes:

- **Ocarina ReFramed HUD and controls:** ReTuned extends the TriAevum runtime with ReFramed's gameplay patches and matching UI resources, integrating its single-screen HUD, inventory/pause menus, and camera controls. These changes run in-game alongside the ReTuned startup and settings interface.
- **Dual-screen presentation:** optional Android dual-screen layouts retain the ReFramed HUD on the gameplay screen and restore touch menus on the second screen. An optional bottom panel adds quick equipment controls and a Shard of Agony indicator. iPhone Duo support is experimental and has not been verified on physical hardware.
- **Manual jump and item remapping:** map jumping to ZR or X. Choosing X moves its equipped item to ZR, with matching HUD and touch-control changes.
- **Customizable touch layouts:** Android and iOS users can reposition buttons and sticks, save their layouts, hide or restore the overlay, and toggle the minimap without physical shoulder buttons.
- **PAK Loader:** use compatible custom child and adult player models and their textures. Android and desktop provide an in-app importer; iOS, Apple TV, and Switch include models during game preparation.
- **Replacement dialogue fonts:** ReTuned Dialogue provides our adapted Regular and Bold font set, based on Liberation Sans under the SIL Open Font License. It replaces reliance on the previous external HD font pack; its source attribution and license are included.
- **Locally generated shaders:** the upstream embedded title-specific GLSL tables and precompiled SPIR-V pack were removed. The generic shader decompiler instead processes data from the user's game locally.

Retained runtime components and the included ReFramed/Project Restoration-derived UI resources keep their original licenses and attribution notices.

## What you need

Supply your own legally obtained, supported **decrypted USA or European ROM** in `.3ds` or `.cci` format. The European ROM includes English, German, French, Spanish, and Italian. Japanese, Korean, and Taiwanese ROMs are planned for a later update; unsupported revisions are rejected during verification.

The downloads do not include a ROM, a prepared game module, or saves. First-run preparation uses your ROM locally and can take a while. Optional texture packs are supplied separately.

## Downloads and installation

Choose the download for your platform from the [Preview release](https://github.com/OTPR26/Ocarina-ReTuned/releases/tag/v0.6.1). Installation instructions and SHA-256 checksums are included on the release page.

Preview 0.6.1 updates Android only. Other platform packages are unchanged and retain their existing filenames. Android can update directly over 2.6.0; no ROM-preparation rebuild is needed for the new Dual-mode Save controls.

Update existing game preparation for the file-selection fix. Android applies preparation updates automatically; on desktop, use **Settings → General → Update game preparation** if needed. For iOS, tvOS, and Switch, prepare a new app with the current toolkit and retain your existing saves. Retained desktop runtimes may still display 0.5.6 in their startup footer.

For iOS and Apple TV, use the unsigned packages included in the latest Preview. **Preparing these apps requires a Mac with Xcode. Windows and Linux cannot currently prepare the Apple apps.**

| Platform | Download | Requirements and setup |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Windows x64 | `Ocarina-ReTuned-0.5.8-Windows-x64.zip` | Extract and run `OcarinaReTuned.exe`. Compiler and preparation tools are included: select your ROM and wait for preparation to finish. |
| Mac | `Ocarina-ReTuned-0.5.8-Mac.zip` | Apple silicon, macOS 15 or later. Extract `Ocarina ReTuned.app`. ROM preparation requires Apple C++ command-line tools, CMake, and Ninja. The app is ad-hoc signed and is not notarized. |
| Linux x86_64 | `Ocarina-ReTuned-0.5.8-Linux-x86_64.tar.gz` | Extract and run `Ocarina-ReTuned.sh`. Requires glibc 2.38 or later, system graphics drivers, and a C++20 compiler with system headers. CMake and Ninja are included. Audio uses your desktop audio session. |
| Android ARM64 | `Ocarina-ReTuned-0.6.1-Android-arm64.apk` | Install the APK and select your ROM. Preparation runs entirely on the device; no desktop companion is needed. |
| iOS | `Ocarina-ReTuned-2.6.0-iOS-Unsigned.ipa` | Unsigned; requires ROM preparation on a Mac with Xcode, then signing and installation. See below. |
| tvOS | `Ocarina-ReTuned-2.6.0-tvOS-Unsigned.ipa` | Unsigned; requires ROM preparation on a Mac with Xcode, then signing and installation. See below. |
| Windows ARM64 | `Ocarina-ReTuned-0.5.8-Windows-ARM64.zip` | Experimental; Windows on ARM with a Vulkan driver. Preparation tools are included. Native ARM64 gameplay is unverified. |
| Linux ARM64 | `Ocarina-ReTuned-0.5.8-Linux-ARM64.tar.gz` | Experimental; Ubuntu 24.04 / glibc 2.39 or newer, Vulkan drivers and a C++20 compiler with system headers. CMake and Ninja are included. ROM preparation passed in an ARM64 VM; physical GPU gameplay is unverified. |
| Switch | `Ocarina-ReTuned-2.6.0-Switch-Experimental.zip` | Experimental; desktop ROM preparation required. Tested in emulation only. See the [Switch setup guide](documentation/Switch-setup.md). Use the mobile version of optional texture packs. |

### iOS and Apple TV

The unsigned Apple downloads require **a Mac with Xcode, your supported ROM, and your own compatible signing identity and provisioning profile**. Signing the downloaded IPA alone is not enough; the game must be prepared first.

The Mac app includes the preparation toolkit. Unpack the unsigned IPA and use `prepare_apple_app.py` from:

```text
Ocarina ReTuned.app/Contents/Resources/setup/project/tools/native/
```

Run the script with `--help` for its required inputs. The Mac app supplies the preparation kit, host, and controller database. Prepare, sign, and install the resulting app locally. The prepared IPA contains your game data and must not be redistributed.

See the [Apple setup guide](documentation/Apple-setup.md) for the full command and startup troubleshooting.

**iCloud sync is off in these downloads.** Enabling it requires a source build configured for a compatible iCloud container and provisioning profile; signing alone does not enable sync.

## Fonts, textures, and controls

Choose **Settings > HUD > Dialogue font** to switch between Regular and Bold. Restart the app to apply the change.

HD dialogue fonts are included. They do not replace world textures or every image-based title and label in the game. Higher-resolution world textures require a separate texture pack.

Startup and settings support controller navigation. On Apple TV, Back on the remote or B on a controller returns from a settings page to the category list. On desktop, the mouse remains free by default; explicit keyboard-and-mouse capture is available.

## Preview limitations

- High resolutions, interpolated frame rates, and large texture packs depend on your hardware. Texture-memory limits can leave some textures at their original resolution, especially on Apple TV.
- First preparation can take a long time, particularly on slower devices.
- Font-style changes require an app restart.
- Mac and Linux preparation require the external build tools listed above.
- Apple installation currently requires the Mac preparation and signing steps above.

Android save import, export, and custom sync-folder setup are described in [Android saves](documentation/Android-saves.md).

Player-model PAK imports and platform-specific setup are described in [Player models](documentation/Player-models.md). Android and desktop use Settings → Mods before gameplay; iOS, tvOS, and Switch include models during desktop preparation.

Keep a separate backup of saves before installing a Preview or changing signing channels. For Android updates, stay with the same APK signing channel.

## What's next

- Regional ROM support: Japan, Korea, and Taiwan, following European support in 0.5.8. See [regional support](documentation/Regional-support.md).
- Portable player-model library: convert and export models on Mac, Windows, and Linux; import compatible packages into a Models library on iOS, tvOS, and other platforms; select child and adult models before starting gameplay. Include Original Link, compatibility checks, and a transfer flow for Apple TV. On-device raw PAK conversion on Apple platforms is a separate follow-up.
- Continue investigating Android startup crashes using the new diagnostic reports: [#1](https://github.com/OTPR26/Ocarina-ReTuned/issues/1) and [#3](https://github.com/OTPR26/Ocarina-ReTuned/issues/3).
- Further preparation-cache improvements for small game-code updates.
- Prepare iOS and tvOS apps on Windows and Linux without requiring users to own a Mac. The planned approach uses bundled open-source compiler tools and a portable game-module interface, with all ROM processing kept local. This is under investigation and is not available in the current Preview.

## Feedback

When [reporting an issue](https://github.com/OTPR26/Ocarina-ReTuned/issues), include your platform, device, Preview version, controller, graphics settings, and steps to reproduce it. Mention whether a texture pack is enabled. Do not attach ROMs, prepared game modules, signing credentials, or personal account information.

## Development

Python 3.11 or later is required for the Python tools and tests:

```sh
PYTHONPATH=src python3 -m unittest discover -s tests -v
PYTHONPATH=src python3 -m retuned inspect-rom /path/to/game.3ds
PYTHONPATH=src python3 -m retuned inspect-textures /path/to/textures
```

[Source pins](resources/source-pins.json) and [native targets](resources/native-targets.json) record the project references and platform targets. ROMs, extracted game data, generated game modules, saves, and signing material stay local and are excluded from distribution.

## Credits and licensing

- [TriAevum](https://github.com/coccofresco/TriAevum) — native runtime and translation foundation.
- [Ocarina ReFramed](https://github.com/OTPR26/OOT3DHud) — single-screen gameplay integration and HUD resources, including Project Restoration-derived work.
- [Majora ReMasked / DekUI](https://github.com/OTPR26/DekUI-Fork) — startup and settings reference.

ReTuned Dialogue is based on [Liberation Sans](https://github.com/liberationfonts/liberation-fonts) under the [SIL Open Font License](resources/fonts/LICENSE.txt).

Bundled components retain their original license and attribution notices.
